BRIEF
Wholesome Hub is a warm, community-centred eatery in Padangbai, created by Leon from Livingseas Asia as a natural extension of his passion for coral restoration and the local ocean life. Designed as a welcoming stop for both travelers and villagers, Wholesome Hub brings people together over comforting Asian-inspired meals, wholesome daily dishes, and a shared love for the sea.
More than a restaurant, it serves as a social anchor point—where divers gather before or after trips, crave for homey comfort food, and visitors discover a meaningful connection to Padangbai’s vibrant coastal culture. Rooted in mindfulness, community, and genuine hospitality, Wholesome Hub exists to nourish not only the belly, but the mind, soul, and environment.
APPROACH
BrandWorks crafted a design and brand system that reflects the calm, heartfelt spirit of Padangbai—while amplifying the brand’s deeper mission of community-building and environmental care. Inspired by the ocean, coastal life, and Livingseas’ commitment to coral restoration, the branding embraces soft, laid-back aesthetics that feel hand-touched, friendly, and distinctly local.
The visual direction is built upon the coastal charm and authenticity. A relaxed coastal charm is represented in light, open, and airy elements that guide the design. Colours echo sandy shores, ocean blues, and sun-washed palettes, while vector “hand-drawn” illustrations celebrate the familiar objects, boats, and marine life surrounding Padangbai. These elements help the space feel instantly welcoming—simple, unpretentious, and true to the village’s character.
While the authenticity represented through the hand-crafted details, from line-drawn icons to organic shapes repurposed into playful patterns, every touchpoint carries a sense of human warmth. This reflects the brand’s personality: laid-back, generous, and always genuine.
The design approach allows Wholesome Hub to stand as both a neighbourhood favourite and an educational touchpoint for the coral restoration cause, inviting customers into a narrative that feels meaningful yet effortlessly enjoyable.
OUTCOME
The final identity blends coastal aesthetics with modern warmth, bringing the spirit of Padangbai into every detail.
Hand-drawn illustrations capture wholesome food, communities, and coral restoration efforts—three core aspects of the brand’s story. These motifs come together in patterns, signage, coasters, uniforms, and the graphic package, creating a recognisable and heartfelt brand visual. Marine-related colours, weathered textures, and tactile materials evoke the serenity of the ocean and the comfort of a village home.
The graphic package and interior (also done by Brandworks) complete the visual with natural finishes and eco-friendly materials that support the brand’s values while creating an atmosphere where guests naturally slow down and reconnect. The layout and brand applications also support the functional needs of the community, such as using the dining area for diving briefings or educational ocean sessions.
Overall, Wholesome Hub now stands as a seamless union of brand, space, and mission. A place where good food meets good company, and where every visit contributes to a healthier ocean and a happier community.
